"DAO Hong Kong: Evolution and Opportunity," jointly organized by SeeDAO and .bit, will be held on April 16th in the banquet hall of Cordis Hotel in Hong Kong.
Background
With each exploring and attempting on their own, there has been a lack of deep communication between Asian and Western DAOs for a long time.
Since 2020, the development of DAOs in the English-speaking world, especially in North America, has been booming. Various social organizations, such as clubs, commercial companies, investment funds, non-profit organizations and even political parties, are exploring DAOs and attempting to restructure through DAOs. At the same time, as so many DAOs are exploring in sync, people are moving from the utopian "decentralization" to more diverse and complex theoretical viewpoints.
At the same time, DAOs in the Chinese-speaking world are also being nurtured and developed. Many Chinese-speaking DAOs are being born in cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok. However, rooted in different cultural soils, Chinese-speaking DAOs still differ from DAOs in the English-speaking world in terms of governance concepts and business profit models. For example, to what extent should decentralization be implemented? How should the relationship between a company and DAO be handled? How can DAOs be commercialized? How to cope with the problem of low efficiency in DAOs?
The cultural backgrounds in North America and China. For example, North American is famous for club culture, one person one vote, commune culture, financial capitalism and Christian culture; while Chinese-speaking area is famous for Confucian culture, socialist culture, internal competition and speculation. Then what differences do DAOs have in these two areas? While DAOs in the English-speaking world are reflecting on decentralization and moving towards leadership, Chinese-speaking DAOs are still exploring what our basic consensus should be when transitioning from a company to decentralization. What are the current trends in the development of the DAO field? In addition, due to the lack of practice volume in Chinese-speaking DAOs, there are many places where we can learn from overseas DAO practitioners.
Therefore, on the occasion of Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2023, we invite DAO practitioners from both the East and West to come together, discuss the current situation and direction of the industry, and promote communication and understanding.
Event Agenda:
The purpose of this event is to connect DAO practitioners from both the East and the West, and to promote their exchange and discussion on the development concepts, governance philosophies, business models, and practical issues related to DAOs and DAO tools.
This event will consist of 4 sections:
Governance and evolution of DAOs;
GenZ and DAOs;
Commercialization of DAOs;
Latest Developments in DAO Tools.
In accordance with these 4 sections, there will also be four roundtable discussions.
Over 30 industry leaders, investors, regulators, experts, scholars, and others will gather in Hong Kong to share the transformation and development opportunities of DAO organizations around the core issues of DAOs, including their practice and governance, business models, latest developments, applications, tools, market trends, investments, and more. Well-known DAO organizations and project parties such as BanklessDAO、Aragon、DAOHaus、MetaGov、SeeDAO、MoleDAO、Nouns DAO, and others from both domestic and international locations will attend this event.
The conference is expected to have 200-500 participants. In the spirit of Web3's "open" and "co-building" philosophy, we have invited media partners such as Foresight News, PANews, Blockbeats, Chain Catcher, and WuBlockchain, as well as community partners such as ethereum.cn, DeFi Dao News, LegalDAO, NUpchain, and bfrenz, to collaborate and create interactive content, showcasing the latest achievements in DAO practices and leading everyone to explore industry opportunities.
